Wines of Hermanus and the Overberg
Region Wine Festival
A Whale of a Wine
Festival …
For those who don’t know: Hermanus lies
slap bang in the middle of a truly great
wine region. Without exception, From
Elgin to Elim and in between, winemakers
in this cool climate region are known
for producing premium wines of
exceptional quality. In an effort to
uplift the collective of variety and
styles, and promote this area as a prime
wine and food destination, Wines of
Hermanus and the Overberg Region Wine
Festivals offer visitors the opportunity
to experience wines exclusively from
this region. These festivals have become
popular events where the whole family is
welcome.
A Whale Festival without the enticing of
the palates of all wine-loving visitors
just wouldn’t be the same! Make sure to
go and explore and enjoy great wines
from our region – the Wine Festival
takes place on Friday and Saturday in
Hermanuspietersfontein Wynkelder’s
courtyard.
Entry fee is R50 per adult and includes
a tasting glass. For the rest, tasting
of more than 50 wines of 20 wineries is
FREE. Sumptuous foods include anything
from smoorsnoek to oysters, lasagne to
lamb shwarmas, cheese and meat platters
and much more. Wine and food pairing
sheets guide epicurians in selecting
food to complement their wine of choice,
rounding off the ultimate taste
experience. To further welcome the whole
family - under 10 year olds enjoy free
hotdogs and sugar-free fruit juice!
The region is known, amongst others, for
its premium brands of Chardonnay,
Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Noir and Bordeaux
blends. This Wine Festival presents the
ideal opportunity to experience it all
in one place …
