Twenty eight living legends of the wine industry, including retired renowned wine makers and viticulturists, prominent industry leaders, wine writers, wine ambassadors and wine personalities who, in their lifetime, have shaped our wine drinking experience in some exceptional way received special acclaim for their invaluable contribution to the growth of the industry.
"These men and women are true industry icons," says Duimpie Bayly, SANWSA chairman. "They have either been instrumental in creating world class wines or have guided the industry through their sheer fervour and vision." The SANWSA is one of the driving forces behind the 350 Years of Wine celebrations and custodians of the annual Veritas Awards.

Tim Hamilton Russell received his commemorative scroll from Bennie Howard, Dave Hughes, and Duimpie Bayly on December 17th 2009, at his home in Hermanus.

Other influential industry leaders who have been honoured include: Phyllis Hands, Dr Jacob Deist, Hennie Hëyl, John Platter, Dawid Saayman, Norma Ratcliffe, Gunther Brözel, Spatz Sperling and Dr Julius Lazslo

The learners at Overstrand Learning Academy donated a cheque of R1 000 to the local Animal Welfare after a very successful fund-raising project launched by the teachers and learners.

The official opening of Cape Whale Coast at the Civic Auditorium this evening was a roaring success. Nosy Rosy managed to get all the hip, hot and happening locals who make a difference in our town, strike a pose.
