About Us
SASC (the South African Shark Conservancy) is a non-profit company
developed by a group of scientists, conservationists, policy makers
and fishers concerned about the status of our living marine
resources. Together we have over 45 years of experience in
conservation and fisheries science, and we remain dedicated to
promoting the conservation and sustainable utilisation of marine
resources through research, education and the development of
cooperative partnerships.
Our Vision
Using sharks as an icon SASC raises awareness about South Africa’s
marine resources and broader resource issues, promoting
understanding, support and participation in the protection,
sustainable utilisation and conservation of South Africa’s living
marine resources.
Our Mission
Raise awareness about sharks and the marine environment through the
development and promotion of a shark research facility and
conservation campaign, including associated scientific initiatives
and education programmes.
