Where to eat and party in and around Hermanus

If you have not yet been to the Shuntin' Shed at the Bot River station, owned by Russell and Wendz, you don't know what you are missing!  You will be greeted with smiles and laughter, and treated to delicious pizzas and other country fare.  Or just an ice cold local beer on tap! You will also be amazed at this unique venue - right on your doorstep
in Bot River!

The owners spent 9 months restoring the old goods shed at the redundant station -  adding their unique touches, creating an interior reminiscent of old trains (that green!) and a place where time stands still.  The shed had been open for almost one year now, and this fully licensed restaurant and pub is the place to go if you wish to take a slow drive for a relaxing weekend breakfast, or for lunch or a bottle of local wine over dinner. Do remember though, they are closed on a Monday and Tuesday.

A perfect venue to enjoy soft balmy weather, where one can sit on the deck, looking over the Caledon hills, and wait for the train to rumble VERY LOUDLY past, and make the whole building shudder!

The magnificent views from the deck, with interesting furniture made by Russell, and the unusual interior, not to forget the fabulous menu of wood-fired pizzas and kidzas, Track of Ribs - a decided must have and the Bot T-bones or Bangers and Mash, makes a visit to this shed worth the trip.

On a Sunday, a whole roast chicken is served to a minimum of 4 people (or half to 2), aptly called the Shunday Roast - bookings essential - is a feast to behold, and the ambience is maintained by golden oldies playing in the background, and in winter, a huge fire blazing.

The Shed lends itself to small tea parties, birthday parties and corporate functions (up to 40 people), as the rest of the Shed remains open for regular and travelling patrons.  But family get-togethers are the norm, with ice cream and milkshakes of all flavours.

Come for a drive, bring the family, come on Wednesdays for Pensioners discount, or Thursdays for Rib Special, and experience good ole world charm in the country!
