Walker Bay Adventures

Walker Bay Adventures offer a myriad of activities. For an unforgettable experience, afford yourself the opportunity of meeting the owners Kobus and Vanessa Lankshear. They are passionate about promoting the entire Hermanus, which means they are in very good company as Rosy shares that very same passion. “It is our goal to give visitors to this incredible town the opportunity to experience this unique environment.

Kobus and Vanessa invite you to explore the magic of our unique coastline and the Walker Bay Whale sanctuary up close and personal. It is a truly magical experience and a beautiful way of seeing Hermanus. Even if you have never kayaked before, you are assured of a safe and pleasant trip as the imported kayaks are sit-on-self bailing kayaks. This means you can hop on and stay on, as there is no chance of toppling over. An experienced guide (with a THETA qualification) will accompany you. “Our guides are qualified in boat based whale watching, first aid at sea, but most importantly, they love their chosen profession and hold great knowledge of the ocean.

From June to December the area becomes a Whale sanctuary and Walker Bay Adventures holds an exclusive permit to be able to paddle within it.

“To our knowledge we are the only operators in the world that encounter large quantities of whales in such a short space of time. Other sea kayaking trips worldwide need to paddle for a day or even more to encounter the gentle giants of the ocean.

Besides the Southern Right Whales (June – December) we have sightings of Brydes Whales, dolphins, seals, penguins and the occasional illusive otter. Whatever the time of the year, this is an experience not to be missed!”

Duration 2 hours. No Experience necessary.

Walker Bay Adventures offer many exciting packages, not only for the benefit of the tourist market, but aimed at local business. Their team building and incentive programs have proved very popular.

“A canoe trip is a must.” The Klein River Lagoon is so beautiful and the untouched lagoon boasts over 130 different bird species, including the African Fish eagle and some of the rarest coastal breeding birds in Southern Africa. I would recommend this for families as it is a very safe environment, even suitable for infants.”.

Canoes are also available for hire should visitors wish to explore the lagoon at their own leisure.

The Klein river one day canoe trip offers real outdoor adventure. Explore the untouched lagoon and river system is safe, stable canoes in the company of an experienced guide.

You shall start your adventure from the Stanford River side or the Hermanus lagoon side dependent on wind conditions.

+- 5 hours, inclusive of guide, equipment, lunch and refreshments. The bird life on the river and lagoon is a highlight of this trip.

Every day weather permitting. Bookings essential .
