David Coombe trained at the London college of furniture and Hackney
college, London, in cabinet making and carpentry and joinery. Through
natural inclination and experience he has come to make home
maintenance his specialty.
David believes that an honest, thorough job done with patience and
care is preferable to several ill-considered jobs done by hasty
fly-by-nights! Put a different way, he believes that timely
interventions prevent much more costly problems later on and as such
a cost–effective protection of a much larger investment, your
home.
His skills set includes making durable repairs at the usual sites of
decay and malfunction; windows, doors, latches and catches, leaking
roofs and guttering. Water damage to inadequately protected parts of
the house causes the most expensive problems and thus sealing
cracks, sanding, priming and painting are the most prudent
preventative dentistry for any building. David has some experience
with major plumbing masonary and electrical repairs and will always
refer the problem to a suitable qualified specialist if the job
would be better done by them. He has a highly developed aesthetic
sense and has experience of picture hanging and the harmonious
arrangement of living spaces
David spent 2005 maintaining a six-building estate in Cape Town
which includes a national monument and took great pleasure and pride
to restore that beautiful home. The work included restoration of
antique and Indonesian furniture!
David would be most excited to be offered a similar position of
‘estate maintenance’ but is equally willing to take on the smallest
task with care and thoroughness he has excellent references
available
